Also how would you compare strawberry wood to briar? I know Ryan Alden makes pipes in it and recommends it.

As for strawberry wood itself, I like it. It's like briar but grows a bit quicker and is lighter. I like the chaotic look of the blast compared to briar.

Scottie wrote it weighs 54 grams and the pipe is on the way to me. I have one Strawberry Wood pipe, a Dublin by Paulo Becker and it tastes different than briar breaking in, a mite sweeter and a very lovely smoking pipe, especially for VA's and flakes. Regards...........

I think, from the photo's anyway, that if one were to cross a fish with a banjo that's the shape you'd come up with! :D

I've never smoked an eskimo, or even handled one, but they appear to be a bit difficult to wield?

What's it like to smoke one?

The shank was difficult to shape for sure. I have spent the last two years trying to have a clearly defined shank/bowl junction and on this pipe there really isn't one at all. :lol: It was all a bit counterintuitive. I did make sure that it will sit and that it is quite stable. I didn't think it would fit in most pipe stands and wanted to make sure Banjo could put it down if he needed to.

Amazing pipe Fish! An Eskimo has been on my list for a long time, and that is a great example of what I have in mind if I ever had one commissioned.

It looks similar to one that I saw some time ago from Rad Davis.
