I don't if this is the proper place. But , I was looking for some place to store my collection. google www.ImprovementsCatalog.com look at Wellesley mobile

carts. Looks like they might be use full. Price seems reasonable.

Not a bad idea Walter. I converted a bureau/bookcase for my pipes, tobacco and cleaning implements. The "bookcase" section holds my pipes. The "bureau" section holds all my cleaning items, maintenance tools etc and also forms a useful workbench, and the cupboard section houses all my tobacco jars and tins. I'm just in the process of removing the shelves which had separate pipe racks on them, and replacing them with purpose made "fitted" racks. I paid £125 for the unit which is solid oak and dates from the 1930's. I am making prototype racks from MDF which cost me about £15 and if all goes according to plan and I like the functionality, I'll have them made in oak to match the rest of the unit.
Not only has it worked well so far, but it is a nice piece of furniture which "her indoors" doesn't mind being in the living room.

They look pretty handy! Some egg-crate foam with a piece of velvet draped over would work nicely in each drawer.
(edit: Moved to Accessories section).

That would look the dog's! A bit like the old pipe drawers that tobacconists used. i would end up getting a bit OCD with it though. I'd have one drawer for smooth straights, one for smooth bents, one for rustics, etc etc .
I think I going to buy one now.

Let me know what you think if you do buy on. By my calculations I would/might need 4 of the 10 drawer one's.

Well, that page is bookmarked! Bob, let us know how you like it.
I would end up getting a bit OCD with it though. I'd have one drawer for smooth straights, one for smooth bents, one for rustics, etc etc .
And then of course, subdivided by English, Danish, Italian, American...

Good tidy way to keep things organized, protected, and handy. I do like to see my pipes, for quick selection and decoration, but I am careful to keep them away from direct sunlight, and open racks can get dusty, even when the pipes are kept clean. So it's what makes you happiest. Out-of-sight, I'm afraid some pipes wouldn't get smoked for months. The main thing is to keep pipes in a moderate to cool temperature, not too humid and not too dry, and out of direct light.

I've got two wooden grenade cases, one stores my burgouning pipe collection, the other holds my tobaccos. They just look really cool, and have all the military DoDICS on it. Pretty unique in my book!
