Nothing like watching the weather change. Good pipe in my teeth, nice seat by the pond. Lightning in the distance coming my way. Fish jumping. Birds absolutely quiet. Enjoy. That's what it's about. Can't wait till the storm hits. I love heavy weather. Glass of whiskey and refill the pipe. Just saying.

The wind was so bad in Chicagoland today, that semis were not allowed on some major roads. The temps have dropped to freezing and the rain is going to change. Bitingly cold now. Storms are fun when there viewed from shelter or if shelter is near. Nothing if fun if there is real damage.

Big storms make your life. This wasn't one. When you see big weather roll in it's alive. You won't believe it. I lived in Iowa for years and watched tornadoes touch down time and again. One afternoon we sat on the porch and 4 or 5 of them hit a mile or two away. It makes you feel real. Tornadoes are like a strike of lightning. You get it or you don't. That's why I don't fear them.

I too don't fear storms, although at times maybe I should. We tend to have lots of tornados in this area and I've only been thru one that made me nervous at all.
The storm last night had hail, high winds and lots of heavy rain. No damage here at home, but a quick stop fuel station about 15 miles away was gutted by a tornado...... Close enough for me.

@ zanthal - No, nice , hard rain to fill the pond and get things going here as far as the yard and trees and everything else goes. I was in Alabama last year when the S@#$t hit the fan and wasn't a nice night. The next day my crews found credit cards, etc. from 100 miles away on the grade. Turned them in and all. But getting back to my original post, you can't beat kicking back and watching the weather roll in. Light up a pipe, kick back, & enjoy.

Thunderstorms last night and some driving rain, scared the beejesus out of the dog. It's been a while since she's heard thunder. I was out in the garage working/smoking and she had to come out and hang with me for the duration. I guess Spring is coming.

I thought it was funny we just finished moving into a giant trailer full of windows the same week a deadly tornado system rolled through. Thankfully, it blew itself out before it hit NE GA!

Big storms let you know how small we all are
I agree. We also get some big summer storms here in Southwest Ontario and I enjoy them. I also fear them...an eerie feeling comes about when the skys turn black, or green. I also enjoy them.
