I am curious. I have loads of Stonehaven and while I like it, I am not crazy about it. I have been thinking of St. James Flake alot lately and many members seem to like it. I was wondering which is preferable?

St James Flake is in a different ballpark all together. I smoke them both a lot and each fills a different need, if you will. They are both about the same body, but St. James is more peppery due to the Perique. I almost want to say it is brighter than Stonehaven, but not by much.
This probably did not help you much at all, but if you like Perique, definitely give St. James Flake a try.

Yes they are very different animals, the St James has a nice spiciness with sweet undertones where the Stonehaven has more of a smokey thing with the sweet undertones. I do prefer St James if I had to choose, but Stonehaven is a nice change of pace for me. Both are very high quality blends and both are difficult to come by.
