Hello from the great white north.
I started growing tobacco this year as a potential tradable commodity. Been learning a lot about growing and processing tobacco.
I have a pile of leaves in my basement slowly curing, and a collection of fermented tobacco I have cased with local honey and neutral spirit, then topped with various home made spirits and port.
I'm learning to roll cigars, make snuff, and over the next few months I'd like to make my own pipe.

Maple seems a safe bet, unless there are varietals that have toxicity. Some woods are toxic in the dust produced in working them, and some might be in smoking them.

You're up there in the snow and tobacco belt. Welcome aboard.
