With the proliferation of sports books online in the last couple years, wagering has grown exponentially.
I was never much of a gambler - I hate losing more than I like winning.

BUT with so many of the sports book apps offering generous introductory deals, it's almost like they're giving money away - IF you know how to work it in your favor.

I've done reasonably well the last month. Only a few heartbreakers to speak of... I'm finishing in the black every weekend. For me, that means more new pipes!

So.. anyone else dipped their toes in to the seedy world of sports betting?
Feel free to share your hot tips/insider info/can't lose parlay action.

I bet on the ponies. I look at the stats and make my decision from there. Dad just looks at horses until one shits then he bets on that one because he said "it's now lighter".
Growing up and having always lived in the Derby City (almost always within a couple miles of Churchill Downs, no less) horse racing has been ever present in my life.

In my mid 20s, my friends and I would make a day of it on Saturdays, going to the track and having a jolly time. Drinks that evening were on the big winner.

Keeneland in Lexington is the most beautiful horse track in the world. I try to make it a destination at least every other year.

Overall, in my experience, I've found that no matter how much research and "educated guessing" I try to impart, my odds at the track are just as good as the sub-casual spectator who makes picks based on the color of the jockeys silks.

It's always fun though, and undoubtedly in my blood.

When I lived in Evansville Indiana we used to go to Ellis Park in Kentucky for the weekend. Nothing like cheap burgers, mint juleps, and the smell of horses.

I'm not a gambler. If it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. However, people watching at the casino while having a free diet soda can pass the time.

I have personally seen the aftermath from the financial downfall of several people due to online gambling (which was recently legalized in Michigan). We are talking $100k+ lost in less than 12 months.

The introductory offers here are literally giving away money. I see the intrigue, but it's not for me. However, I do wish the fellow members the best of luck. After all, my fellow brothers of the briar need some new pipes and leaf.

Yep - my grandfather came close to losing the family business in the 70s. Even had the IRS breathing down his neck.

It's definitely not for everyone - the high one gets from winning is comparable to any chemically induced endorphin/dopamine rush.

Once my "free bets" are cashed out, i delete the app.

I like to do my gambling the old fashioned way. Horses at the track, Super Bowl by l bets with friends for cash, and poker nights sometimes. I have nothing against sports betting apps. Those who like it like it.

Occasionally when golfing together the wife gets into making these little bets which are more in the nature of you lose you still win, lol. ;)

That’s it for me.

You're one of the few smart ones. Obviously, the betting sites hope to attract people to "try" their site and become addicted to the action. The fact they can afford to put this money upfront indicates how often people win vs the site wins.
