I know it's no big thing to most folks but Bubba is my family. As many know, he's all I have so today is an even more special day for us in that today is his 8th birthday. I've had him since he was 2 1/2 years old and we've been inseparable ever since. I found out about him through a mutual friend, also a Corgi lover, who told me he was in KY. I talked with his breeder and went to visit and brought him back home with me. I've had no regrets at all and love him more today than I did then.
I stopped by the grocery store on my way home(got off a little early today) and picked him up a good steak all his own. He's not into toys but food is always in the forefront of his mind so I figured that would be a great birthday present. I've already taken about 20 pictures of him and no doubt will take more.
Just wanted to share this as I'm sure there are others who have mutual feelings about their furry friends. Depending on your situation, background with animals or if you even like them at all, they can be a huge source of entertainment, company and needless to say, the only one who will give you unconditional love and devotion.
These photos were his first birthday with me(third)five years back and I bought him a cake at the pet deli.

I had some friends come down from Johnson City(120 miles away!) just to celebrate that birthday and brought their two Corgis with them.

This is Bubba today-five years later and about 20 pounds heavier!!.

Happy Birthday, Bubba, and may you have 20 more.

I'll raise a glass to that! The bond between a man and his dog is a special thing. Happy birthday to bubba! He looks like a great dog.

Happy Birthday, Bubba.
And disregard what some may think. Dogs are family. Period. Hell, most of the dogs I've met are more polite, gracious and thankful than actual children. :puffpipe:

I love corgis! We used to have one but my familys lives got very busy and we weren't able to take care of them so we had to get rid of them
People are different and their lives and expectations vary quite a bit. On the contrary, Bubba is my life-my only family so, I'd no more get rid of him than I'd cut off my right arm.
Dogs should be family, Cajunguy. All too often they're consigned to the backyard, many times on a chain and end up being nothing but a yard ornament to be eaten up by flies and mosquitoes and a life of loneliness. People wonder why they bark so much. Could it be from the boredom of being alone most of the time tied to a tree? Could be. My boy eats with me, sleeps with me, goes everywhere I do that's permitted and is a constant companion I look forward to coming home to. I can't say that about the last woman that lived here. More gracious and thankful than actual children? I can vouch for that. I do have a biological daughter...somewhere. She's 38 now, if she's still alive but I haven't seen her in over 20 years or heard from her so, when I say I have no family, I don't. She could be a porn star, a nurse or flipping hamburgers somewhere. I'll never know. Give me my dog.
He sure did enjoy that steak tonight.

It wasn't my choice. MY dad decided it was for the best. We were never home. I miss my Trinity. She was about 20 pounds overwieght, and was the laziest dog I've ever seen. She would just sit next to me and watch tv with me

A lot of Corgis are lazy. Bub had rather sit on the couch watching spaghetti westerns and snacking on cheese cubes than chase squirrels outside or run after tennis balls...they're all different. Chip and Dale on the other hand(my friend's two Corgis) were the entire opposite. They went nuts over a ball-any ball. My parents always had dogs and the first I remember was a "spitz", as my Dad called him, named Skippy but, in looking over some old pics of him, he was a Border Collie. Somebody poisoned him.
Corgis can steal your heart. Sorry you lost yours but there's plenty out there looking for a good home. I never could find one in a shelter around here. Bubba wasn't doing the girls any good for whatever the reason and I think, looking back, his breeder was looking for him a home since she wanted him for a stud but she never actually said that. That was fine with me as he's got a good home now and treated like royalty.

My dog would eat anything as long as it wasn't eggs, vegetables or marina sauce. I once spit on the ground when she was sitting next to me and she licked it up.

Happy Birthday Bubba. My two dogs will eat anything. The puppy ( 7 month old American Bulldog) was hanging in the kitchen yesterday while I was cooking, so I was making a salad and I started giving him a bite of everything that went in it. He likes radices, cukes, carrots, green peppers. My little guy is a 8 pound yorkie who sleeps with me. At night we go to bed and I usually have a bunch of fruit and he loves it all. They are great companions and now that my sons are going back to school next week, I will be on full time dog duty. Both dogs love their walks so I am out and about all day with them.

Happy Birthday Bubba! When I was a kid, I worked for a lady who raised Welsh Corgi's. She had 12 of her own (plus two Sheperds and a couple of cats..). Taking care of her yard, dogs and kennel runs kept me busy and fat with cash for two summers before I got my license. Those dogs followed me around like the Pied Piper, until she got home, than boom, like a magnet to her.

Bubba said thanks for wishing him a happy birthday, he really enjoyed that steak. These little guys stole my heart some years ago and I guess only the Golden Retriever takes second place to them.
Twelve Corgis-I can't imagine what living with that many could be like. I've seen the havoc three could bring but they love to play, especially ball. The Queen use to have at one time about 30 of these little varmints! They'll eat most anything but some items are toxic to them like onions, grapes, Macadamia nuts, dark chocolate and too much garlic. Tomato stems are another no-no although the tomato itself is not bad.
Toys and Teddy Bears usually gut gutted sooner or later and since he's not much into toys, I figured the closest thing to his heart was food so, this is what he got.

Ha ha he is a cutie. My girlfriend really loves this breed. Are they one of those dogs that barks a lot? I live in an apartment so it is kind of important.

Some are barkers and others like Bubba seldom bark at all. The only time he does is when the doorbell rings or someone knocks on the door...usually it's UPS he doesn't like. He doesn't bark just to be barking like some. It depends on the personality as within the breed, like all breeds, there is a host of varied personalities. Bubba is no problem in any way and never has been. He lets me brush his teeth, clean his ears, trim his nails, give him a bath, groom him, etc and never puts up a fuss.
