Smokingpipes.com has 8oz tins on sale today for $52. That’s about $6.50 per ounce for that deliciousness. It’s made at Sutliff in Richmond, so I assume when it’s gone, it’s gone.
$104/lb is a sale?Smokingpipes.com has 8oz tins on sale today for $52. That’s about $6.50 per ounce for that deliciousness. It’s made at Sutliff in Richmond, so I assume when it’s gone, it’s gone.
I guess compared to Lane’s 1-Q it’s not.$104/lb is a sale?
Even if they do, history has proven that it will taste different. Best you can hope for is that it is 'a little' different and still is amazing. But, that has most often not been the case. I stocked up, but I wish I could have gotten more. SPC blends will be missed. Is there no possibility of SPC finding a different blender?
Really crazy to think Plum Pudding will probably become the new Frog MortonEven if they do, history has proven that it will taste different. Never...Really crazy to think Plum Pudding will probably become the new Frog Morton
There were 5 Frog Mortons, but everyone chases accross the pond. It is not impossible to think the reserve uber PP could achieve chased status. lolNever
This is the correct thread for this post:Today on P&C a 2 oz tin is $10.28 an oz. So, yes, $6.50 an oz is a sale. I dread to think what they will be asking for Plum Pudding at pipe shows 5 years from now.View attachment 373034
I've always felt that Across The Pond was the ultimate unicorn blend being both a Frog Morton and having Syrian LatakiaThere were 5 Frog Mortons, but everyone chases accross the pond. It is not impossible to think the reserve uber PP could achieve chased status. lol
I felt dirty paying $13.50/ tin for the regular. No way in Hell I was paying for the reserve. I really like the regular, anyway. Truth be told, Plum Pudding has about as many fans as Frog did *before it was announced it was going away* so it is anyone's guess what will happen if ole Mr. Guss can't find a new blender and this goes extinct.I went to some lengths to get PP. It was not the reserve. While its pretty good I found it a bit underwhelming and feel there are many superior blends, especially for the premium price they ask. If the reserve is better my thinking is they should have just made that blend. Ive never been one to suscribe to selling a lesser product if you have the ability to make it better.
Understood. But there were people who didn't swoon over Frog either, until it was gone.@wyfbane I realize folks like it and I dont blame them...I just didnt find it unreplacable or especially unique. To me it was a little flat but everyone is different.
We cant buy bulk over here so 13.50 a tin is the average rate and there is no such thing as a tobacco sale.
