Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm from Montreal Canada and this summer I'm planning to go in Florida for family vacation. The tobacco here is such expensive 30$ for 50gr!!
On the web I can't find a smoke shop where they are specialized in pipe and pipe tobacco. Do any of you know a good place near Fort Lauderdale or Miami?
Tks

You'll find tinned tobacco hard to come by in Florida and nearly as expensive. Our state taxes on the stuff is quite high so a 50 gram tin is usually $20+
Of course, if you're listing prices in Canadian dollars vs USD then I imagine that's a much more attractive savings.

Benningtons in Boca Raton would be my recommendation. As said above though, tobacco (except for cigars) is not all that cheap because of the florida tobacco tax.

Ditto what Peck said, I've been to Benningtons, it's top notch. They still do some hand blending of their own blends - and I think are the only in Florida to do so - really I can count on one hand.. maybe two the actual tobacconists (in the US) that still do their own legitimate blends.

We're (TobaccoPipes.com)just north of Tampa and have a pretty large selection of tobacco (everything on our site is here in house). To my knowledge, we've got the largest selection in Florida. However, we don't carry a lot of bulk. Mostly tins.
The few B&M's I know of in Florida don't have much selection and the prices are high for tobacco (due to our taxes here). It's really unfortunate. Edwards in Tampa is a neat visit, because of their history. However, they are much more cigar-focused these days.

Yeah, I've been to Edwards. Its an nice little shop and has some beautiful pipes. It was very cigar focused but the young man behind the counter was very knowledgeable and recommended a good "house" blend to me.
Reniaeats, I've been wanting you to stop by your B&M for ages, but the internet tells me you're only open M-F. Is this correct?

Pipe tobacco, tinned or bulk, is much much more inexpensive online than at any brick and mortar store. But then there is the potential expense of customs. If you are going to be in Florida for at least several days to a week, you might try this. Place your order on the phone and explain the situation, so the retailer will understand the order must be expedited. Have the order shipped to your hotel (or better yet a friend's address if you have one at the destination). Then you can pick up your order there with no customs. As you see, tins run about $10 to $12, USD, online, sometimes a little more or less, and bulk is around half to 3/4 of that (I'm guessing, sorry if I'm off a bit). So the whole purchase should be around half price compared to Canada. smokingpipes.com is on the east coast and in the south, so it should be a quick delivery. Just an idea. You might call your hotel to see if they have any problem with parcels sent to guests. Business travelers frequently have cases of literature or exhibits sent to hotels, so it seems easy. If you try this, I hope it works well. Don't want to gum up the works.
Presume you have some Blatter & Blatter pipes; what a great resource. All of the happiness isn't south of the border.
