I have a weird question, but first a little background....
This past weekend I had a very bad infection and was prescribed antibiotics by a doctor. I took said antibiotics for the past couple of days but when I smoked at least 2 different pipes, possibly 3, AND at least 3 different tobaccos, I had a very bitter taste each time.
I am wondering, therefore, if the antibiotics have affected my taste buds (according to online sources, this is possible) or if my pipes have...horrifically...gone sour. I do keep my pipes very clean, running pipe cleaners and rum through all of them after practically every smoke.
Has this ever happened to any of you? If not, what are the remedies for a pipe(s) that has gone sour?
Thanks.....

My guess would be that the medication has had an effect on your sense of taste. Give it a few days.

My guess is that the antibiotics are to blame... It happens to me sometimes while on them. It goes away after 3-4 days, at least for me. Sucks royally until then though.

If the infection was anywhere in your sinuses or respiratory system, too, it may have altered your sensitivity to tastes and smells. You might want to hold off smoking until you've run the course of antibiotics..
Even colds and diet can have an effect on these things. For a while all latakia tasted almost like butterscotch to me, after a bad cold and a period of scrounging for whatever food I had around (this was in college). It was odd.

For sure the antibiotics are the culprit. All your pipes just don't go sour at once. Many things can effect our palettes and medications are a strong devise for body chemistry change.
