As some of you know, I've been on a quest to find some Captain Black White (not what this thread is about). I looked at 10 stores in Bellevue and Seattle WA. I finally called Lane Ltd and they gave me the name of the only 1 distributor here - in Yakima which is an Indian Reservation. Great! I called them to order some since they're in WA State just like me. Turns out even withint the boarders our own state we can't friggin order tobacco!!!!!! I thought it was Forbidden from being shipped in or out of WA State but its actually even within the state. He was very nice and courteous but I am so blowen away and friggin p&^%'d by this. For those of you who refuse to believe things are not going to get bad for pipe smokers, you're flat wrong about this. Ok, rant done. I feel better. Think I'll go have a smoke......

I know! My expectations were that it was "everywhere" in every corner drug store. Well in downtown Seattle we still have many many small mom & pop corner stores and NONE OF THE CARRY this stuff... I'm sorry but there is no way I am moving on at this point. At this point, I am getting ready to book a trip to Tucker GA (Lane Ltd Corp HQ in the USA) and knock on their door and demand some of this stuff.....

You know, I am not sure about that. The guy on the phone told me of a store in Puyallup WA that he is a distributor for. Maybe the law allows for Reservation to Reservation shipping or something. But the store that does carry it in Puyallup is also on a Reservation. So confusing but it just seems wrong to me.

It's amazing that you can't find the Captain where you live. He's in every Walgreens, CVS, etc I've ever been in anywhere on the country.

I take it you can't order from out of state. And I thought Washington State was so hip, my old friends growing

garlic and working seasonally on the forest fire crews, etc. Even on Manhattan where I visit I can buy pipe baccy at the

corner newsstand and canned drink shop. It's bad stuff, but it's available. This is the city where the fast food cups

are regulated for capacity.

Look, it's pretty simple and though it does suck, it's not "wrong" -- any Native American Reservation is a sovereign nation IAW Federal Law.

I think you misunderstand me roth. It isn't wrong that there Reservations (although most of them are in abject poverty at this point. The success of this program will have to be analyzed by the historians), what is wrong is that within our own state, we can't ship tobacco. I think the state is forfeiting tax revenue because when I travel, the first place I go to is the local B&M and spend the big bucks there, not here. Penny wise and pound foolish.

It's not exactly an easy drive up there but certainly next time I go to a concert at the Gorge, I'll swing by. WA state is hip in many way but in other ways, its really backwards. Our politicians are completely nuts here. For example, we are not allowed to use plastic bags in grocery stores in the city of Seattle. In the city of Bellevue, no problem. We've got reasonable gun laws (for now) and you can smoke weed but you can't buy tobacco online. Thats what I meant but confusing. It just doesnt seem to make sense for a simpleton like me. Your mayor Bloomberg scares the heck out of me. My understand is that many people are moving out of NY due to all the craziness.

Wow. I feel your pain. Just yesterday I nearly had an aneurysm trying to purchase a 100-Watt light bulb. The shelves were full of those stupid compact flourescents. I'm not a right-winger like a lot of you guys, but petty, authoritarian bullshit doesn't have wings.
Still, I'm so thankful that Washington state is protecting us from Captain Black. I'm sure govt. subsidies for natural Virginia flakes are just around the corner. :rofl:

I suppose I could understand your perspective but I don't want the gov in the business of deciding for me what i want or need in any situation, such as your light bulbs, size of drinks, type of baby formula, or number of bullets in my magazine.
