I'm looking for a little information on Soren pipes. I did a little research and understand that they were made by Soren Refbjerg and that he stopped making them under that name some years ago, but other than that I can't find a whole lot on them.
I ask because I just picked one up at an antique store, a nice freehand. I do have a freehand Jobey, I'm not very familiar with freehands or Danish pipes in general.
I'll get a picture up once I get it cleaned up. It's in great shape, but I need to take care of some oxidation on the stem and shank extension.

I've got a Rasmussen poker around here somewhere, a heavenly pipe to behold.

And add picture now - we like before and afters
I always forget to take before photos! But here wouldn't be much difference between a before and after except the oxidation. Despite the fact that it's obviously been smoked, it's really, really clean. Didn't even have to spend time scouring out the shank.

I finally got a few shots of that Soren I picked up. I'd still like to know more about them, but I saw it an antique store for $34 and my gut told me I'd be stupid to not spring for it. The shape was just intrigued me and I like that it's a pretty sizeable pipe without being overbearing.
I took care of the oxidation on the stem, but the shank extension was a bit tougher. It's not noticeable, but on close inspection you can see a bit of off-coloring, particularly near the briar.

If the next few bowls smoke as beautifully as the first one, I'm going say money well spent.

I'm thinking this was a lucky find indeed. As I went into the antique store to buy it, I was prepared to find out someone had beaten me to it. I sure am glad no one did. That shop has paid off for me before. I picked up my very first, and until now favorite, briar there. A Savinelli bruna 606ks, for $17. I really hope the dealers around remain generally ignorant of tobacco pipes. :D :puffy:
