'Somm' - A New Movie About Sommeliers

A new documentary is making the rounds. "Somm" tells the story of four sommeliers approaching the Master Sommelier exam. It's hard to believe anyone would go to such trouble to learn everything about a plant that you can't smoke, but this looks interesting and fun. I'm going to see it Saturday.

Looks interesting, I'll catch it on Netflix. I had a phase where I took wine really seriously, matching every damn meal with a particular varietal, but I just got sick of worrying about all the choices. We now keep only about a case each of four or five wines. I generally keep a couple of different reds, a couple of different whites and as much Sauternes as my budget allows.

I really enjoy documentaries. Frequently the stories they tell are as dramatic and riveting

as anything written for the screen. This looks worth seeing. I have an Italian wine tasting

coming up this Sunday, and I've been to others at wineries and other places.
