Yesterday I tried to deliver a firetruck at the port in Baltimore. The VIN on the truck didn't match the paperwork so they refused it.
After a few phone calls I was emailed some new paperwork. It was also wrong. This morning I was emailed new paperwork again. It had the VIN that matched. Cool. I got back to the port and was just about to deliver when I received a call telling me to not deliver the truck.
Turns out the original paperwork had the right VIN and the one on the truck is wrong. Huh? How does that happen? I am now being paid to stay in a hotel and wait for them to over-night a new data plate for the truck and then hire someone to change it out for the old one.
At first they thought I was going to change the plate but I refused to take responsibility for changing out a plate that is rivited to the door. The trucks cost over a million bucks eaxh, no way am I doing something like that. They can hire a professional for that.
