In case you missed it, we are planning a forum group project- carving our own pipe from a kit! The discussion is IN THIS THREAD so you can get caught up and add yourself to the list. So, make sure you add a pre-drilled pipe kit to you Christmas list! :puffy:

Great idea, unfortunately it's not in the cards for me at this point but I can't wait to see the pics when the finished work starts to come in.
I also think it would be great if we could vote to find a winner!

Dot, we are doing an open window timeframe so you can join in after the first of the year even.
While I'm sure there will be (welcome) critiques, I think maybe voting should be reserve for round two, when we all have more carving experience.

I would love to try making my own pipe. That sounds like so much fun! I've done all sorts of little projects out of necessity, but I've never made a pipe before. I'd be worried that I'd screw it up and the kits are a bit much for me right now. Maybe next year! I look forward to seeing what you guys produce though!

Okay, it looks like we are developing something here! Before we go into what it might be I need to know a couple of things:
How many are planning to start this project? And how many of you will need to obtain a kit (we might have a discount worked out so I need to know this, too)?
Let's hear from you the sooner the better but by Wednesday would be great!

I have three (3) pieces of 50-yr old briar that I purchased on ebay a few years ago. Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge or even the tools needed to begin working on a pipe.
