Some Nat Sherman house blends

Was in New York City to visit my jobs main office and stopped by Nat Sherman on 42nd street.

I picked up two of their house blends: 584 Uptown Highstone and 314 City Island Dawn. Both of these are extremely good blends. They sell them in a minimum of two ounce samples so I picked up two of each.
The 584 is a Burley/Virginia blend which is very mild and slightly aromatic.

The 314 is a Cavendish with a hint of vanilla and is very mild and great to smoke.
I recommend trying both if possible.

I smoke their Riverside Whiskey blend regularly. You can also mail-order their bulk tobaccos from them by phone or web site.

Haven't had those, but a generous member traded me some 510 & 580, which are both VAPers (Thanks Romeo!). They are excellent. If you're into Perique bledns at all, I suggest you check them out!

Never had any Nat Sherman blends. I did smoke some of their cigs many years ago though.

Their cigs are the only one's I think are even interesting, flavor-wise. I used to smoke MCDs, Touch of Clove and Hint of mint back when I smoked nails.

I was trying to remember the name of the English blend I have smoked in the past from Nat's - got it through a box pass, IIRC, so I went out to the website. I couldn't even find the pipe tobacco - you age verify, and then are presented with a choice between cigars and cigarettes. They used to have the pipe stuff on the site. To hell with 'em.

I agree Jud, their website needs to include their line of pipe products as well. They also have some amazing pipes which I wanted to get one but since I just recently bought 2 Petes I couldn't afford it.

Nat Sherman is a great place to visit and buy stuff.
My two favorite blends are # 536 - Empire English and # 649 Old Oxford - two great English blends.

That's the store I go to most often. Their blends are the only ones I have smoked so far (I have Dunhill Morning Pipe and Nightcap on the way though!). The guys there are very friendly and have been very patient with me as I learn about pipe smoking.
Empire English is also one of my favorites and the first English I have tried. I only work a few blocks away, if anyone wanted me to pick them up some of their bulk tobacco just let me know.

Actually, the 510 is a lightly cased Virginia (I believe, but have not confirmed, red VA cavendish), and the 580 is straight VA. But I'm glad you're liking them Jason!

I'll try to pin someone down for the skinny on those next time I'm at Nat's.

REALLY? Funny how your mind can insert something that's not there! I could swear that there is Perique in them both! Guess that's what I get for letting my nose do the thinking.

Coulda been all that loose Perique I sent too. Did you try a bowl of it straight? I'm debating dipping into some right now in fact....

I did not try a bowl if the stuff you sent straight, but that's because I KNOW what will come of that. A couple of years ago I got a small jar of Jewel of St. James Perique and proceeded to smoke a bowl of it. Wow. What a mistake. Never again. I'm still working up the courage to try your home-made blend of Tambolakariqua, only because I know how potent Tambolaka is on its own, and I can imagine how strong the two together must be... Maybe if I weren't such a Vitamin-N lightweight, I'd be OK.

In 2003 during my first, and so far, only trip to NY, we're walking down the street and my GF says,"Hey there's a tobacco shop let's go in". I had never even heard of Nat Sherman back then, hey I'm from Oklahoma so cut me some slack, and we walked in and I thought I had died and gone to heaven! What a great place and very kind folks working there.

Kevin, I really enjoyed your video of the store, it brought back some very good memories.
