I'm interested in trying a few more blends from GH&C. Of the blends I've tried I have found I either really like them or don't, not much in-between. There are a few exceptions of course.

Blends I really like:

Happy (Brown) Bogie Unsliced (love it)
American Delight (love it)
Dark Flake Unscented (love it)
Kendal Gold (love it when I'm in the mood for it)

Blends I tried but opted not to get into:

Dark Flake Scented (it was okay but I much prefer the unscented)
Dark Plug Unscented (I'm still struggling with plugs so I'm happy with the flake instead)
Kentucky Nougat (it was actually really good but I prefer the mildness and subtlety of American Delight)

Blends I didn't care for:

Kendal Flake
Kendal Dark
Best Brown #2 Flake

Blends I'm interested in:

Coniston Plug
Revor Plug
Rich Dark Honeydew
Louisiana Perique Flake
Kendal Dark Vanilla
Bosun Cut Plug

The thing I can remember about the 3 I didn't care for is the way they made my tongue and mouth kinda numb. I get a similar experience with the Kendal Gold but to a lesser degree. On this basis, should I avoid any of the blends I'm interested in trying? Also, based on what I do like are there any blends I should add to the try list?

It could be the Kentucky having that effect? Or the nic?

The conniston is really strong stuff so you may not like that...
bosun is flipped with more va it’s very good... scented with dried clove and florals.

Rich dark honeydew is very very floral.. and incredibly hard to find. But depending on whether you like Lakeland floral you may like it.

if you didn’t like the Kendal dark the Kendal dark vanilla is going to be exactly like the Kendal dark you didn’t like but with a super mild background vanilla scent.

never tried revor. LA flake is a great one from my experience.

just one guy’s opinion!
Hope that helps.

I've really liked all the flakes so far that I've tried, although it's only been three of them: Bright CR Flake, Best Brown #2 and Grasmere.

I did not like Birds Eye, way too harsh and strong with no sweetness at all (to my taste).

Bright CR Flake has this awful hand soap taste the first few minutes, but that burns off quick and the rest of the bowl is wonderful.

Revor is one of the few plugs I have never enjoyed. To put it into perspective I couldn't even unload the stuff onto my friend Weezell, it is that bad. It is not in my mind a real plug as opposed to being a really thick flake. You might like it, many do. Is it still made?

Yes Revor is still made and you're right it's definitely a bit different. It has a sort of twang that you either love or hate, I love the stuff.
I agree about it not being a true plug. Although it isn't a crumble cake its breaks apart easily whereas you try that with any other Gawith plug and you'd be left with nubs instead of fingertips. It isn't manufactured by Gawith either, don't know why.

I think you would like some of the other ropes like Black Cherry, Rum or Coconut. I don't think you would like Kendal Mixture. It's too much like Dat Birds Eye

Do you still have some that's just sitting there rotting? If so, I would gladly take it off your uncoronized hands!

Yep, still made and available at Synjeco. I love the stuff.

I’d add Bob’s Chocolate Flake to your list. Such a unique and delicious tobacco.

Brown Flake Unscented!! No man should be without the BFUS! I must send you samples stat!

Of the ones you ask about, I've had Coniston (not my bag... at all) and LA Perique, which I like, but I prefer the very similar Stonehenge Flake.

How do BFUS compare to Happy Bogie?
