I've noticed a few times when smoking a couple different VaPers (or variants of them) that I sometimes get a soapy taste. It doesn't last through the bowl. It's usually there at the beginning. I was wondering if it was a "normal" taste that comes out in these blends or if it was maybe linked to the heat of the tobacco, smoking speed or something else. And no - I don't clean my bowls out with soap and water! ? The blends that I've noticed it with are Escudo & Doblone d'Oro.

Are you smoking your vapers in pipes used for blends with Lakeland sauce? They will ghost a pipe big time as will English and Latakia blends.
I dedicate all my pipes to certain genres or specific blends. Virginia, Vaper and Vabur. I don't smoke any of the Lakeland blends. Maybe dedicate a pipe to the Doblone and see how it goes.

Lakelands are crammed with a soapy flavor that soon dissapates. Getting it in Escudo wouldn't have been possible in the old days. I am very surprised you are getting any in Escudo. Scan Tabak must be really cheapening the blend.

Haven't been smoking any Lakelands. Made me think about other Virginia flake that I smoke - and none of the others have that taste: Capstan Blue, Orlik, HH Virginia Flake, Solani Virginia Flake with Perique, Blatter & Blatter Danish Slices (made by Stucliff). Maybe it's just my tastebuds. I'll have to see next time I smoke it.

What exactly is the soapy taste? Lakelands are scented with the same scents as was used in soaps, usually 1970’s style grandma soaps. I’m not sure I understand what you are calling soapy. Could it be the peppery taste?
I don't think it's peppery - I get lots of white pepper from certain cigars. But this, was really like soap - ie. getting your mouth washed out with it as a kid. But it doesn't last long and I haven't had it every bowl. Next time I smoke it, I'll let you all know.

There are lots of different soaps. So… anyways, I’ve never tasted that in any tobacco, and I’ve smoked a lot of tobaccos.

But, of course this is a great time to kick Escudo in the teeth, or at least that shiit they call Escudo now. Nothing like it used to be when it was good.

North Georgia mountains.
Only thing I've had that tasted like soap was concentrates (dabs) from the devils lettuce.
I do know perique doesn't agree with alot of people. Has this always been a thing? Or are you newer to smoking and it's been a thing since you've started?
Can't imagine why it'd be soapy, but I'd guess to say maybe you just don't enjoy Perique.

It's only been recently. Maybe some post-covid still playing with my tastebuds. Been smoking a pipe for a little over two years. Been smoking Cuban cigars for 10+.
