I don't want to miss out on their great sale, they have their 100g tins marked almost half off of the 7 Seas and other MacBaren blends. So, I'm a fan of aro's but haven't really tried anything else. Like a mild smoke with lots of flavor, prefer a good room note afterwards. Any suggestions on what I should try while they are on sale??
Your suggestions and advice are very much appreciated!

I like the MB 7 Seas Regular and Royal (with Royal being my favorite). Gold and Black didn't do it for me. I'm really interested in the 7 Seas Red, though.

Another vote for the Royal. I might have to get in on this sale even though I am nearly broke. MacBaren tobaccos are already a great value and a hell of a smoke. I have not tried 7 Seas Gold or Regular, but I have a tin of each waiting in the wings. Royal, to me, is one of those rare aromatics that tastes like it smells, which is nothing short of amazing.

Thanks all for the advice. Pipe Novelist, I'm with you, totally broke after my ongoing PAD attack, but I gotta get some while it's so cheap! Off I go, Red an Royal on my list. Has anyone tired the Mac Baren Navy Blend Plum Cake? It sounds wonderful, just wondering if it's as much a mouthful as it sounds.
By the way, the link is a bit of a tough nut to find so here is the sale page:

Plum cake was not what I expected but in a good way. I was expecting sweet aromatic when I opened the tin. What I got was a smoky earthy aroma with a tar like scent to it. I know tar? May not sound good but man when you smoke it it tastes great! I do not think it has a room note that others might compliment you on but who cares. Maybe not an every day smoke but worth having in the rotation. If this blend was a Scotch it would be from Islay.

Looks like almost all their MacBaren blends are half off 8O $6.50 for 50g of the Vanilla Cream Flake, can't beat that for some decent flake.

Well I received my Royal and Gold 7 Seas blends today. OMG when I opened the tins.... the aroma wafting from them was just gorgeous. I'm still too down in the lungs right now to try it so going to have to wait. I'm drooling though....

Never tried any of the 7 Seas baccy line... were to start?!
Depends on what you're looking for. You can go to Navy Cut which is an easily lightable and mild blend, up to the Gold and Royal which take on some of the affects of aromatics. The Gold comes out of the tin with a plummy/figggy scent to it with some mild spice in the background. It's a soft and mellow smoke, one that you can enjoy quite often. The Royal blend is a bit milder, softer, with a nice subtle hint of sweetness to it.
I'm going to try them both shortly, just to see if they smoke as advertised.

Oh, the Royal is wonderful. More of a tobacco taste than most of the aro's I've tried, but very subtle, no bite at all, really smoky on the tongue, with a really pleasant after taste. Was mildly surprised by how easily it smokes. Also, one light for the full pipe, that was it! Two thumbs up for the Royal. Really nice smoke!

Also, for some reason my mouth is calling out for Port Wine after that pipe. Not sure why, but sure seems to me it would go really well with the Royal blend.

You Americans don't know how well of you are for tobacco prices, $6.50 for 50g of baccy, thats 1/4 of what we pay in the UK and we never ever get a cent knocked of anything, sob sob sob.

Should I tease you further? I happen to be located in a region where lots of tobacco is grown. I get 1 ounce samples, around 28g, for $2.45/ounce. The 50g local tobacco blends run me around $4 USD. I just spent an hour wandering through J&R's, sampling tobacco and getting lots of wonderful blends. That's where I hooked up with Mac Baren's 7 Seas Royal and Gold, cost me $8.50 each for 100g tins, one of each. Then my new favorite dessert blend, Sutliff's Private Stock Molto Dolce 50g for $6.97, figure $7usd. Out the door, 250g of wonderful tobacco, $25 USD.
I feel spoiled. I'd love to ship stuff overseas if it didn't put you and I in a tight spot for import taxes and fees....

Smoked that Royal 7 Seas blend in my Gouda Clay, probably not the best for it. The clay is great for slurpy aro's but I think these 7 Seas blends are much more suited for Briar. Going to load up my Calabash and give the Gold a try later on tonight. So far I'm loving these blends, and want to thank everyone here for all your suggestions! You've created a monster! lol....

I can send small amounts, 100g or less, but doesn't seem to be too cost efficient that way. Not sure what the post cost is between here and there.
