I came across the above photo while google hunting and thought it might go well on the "Epic Threads of Yore" thread. I got to reading the article though and its 1941 vintage and overall worth far outpace its humor. Photos of the full article as well as a transcription can be found here at Smoking the Pipe of Peace. While some of the advice may have changed through the years I find that it's an interesting read. Perhaps you might as well.

Thanks for an interesting read. I must admit that this is the first time I've heard the recommendation of "steaming" a pipe. I'm not sure I'd go that route.

Thanks Steve for bumping this. I liked it a bunch but for whatever reason its original posting here had a lack luster reception. I am glad that the article is getting some good viewing.
