I have pipes from my grandfather that are well and truly smoked past the point of no return, some had cake built up to the point where you couldnt pass the point of a pencil, he must have been putting in a ribbon of tobacco at a time. Another Savinelli system pipe he had was smoked to the bottom so often that it went deeper than the drilling. The rest were in various states of disrepair, cracked shanks and bowls with burn marks in them which made me wonder if he smoked too hot or they were just shit to begin with.
