I'm smoking my first pipe, a Tinder Box St. Ives smooth bent pot with a unique transverse
saddle stem. Some charring on the brim, and some chatter on the mouthpiece, but otherwise
doing great. Never been reamed; I wipe out the bowl. Just a great smoker since 1976 or so.
The good house historian at Tinder Box says this is almost certainly a French pipe, a house pipe
made by Chacom or Chapuis-Comoy at St. Claude, presumably, shape 7345. So, consider carefully
when you buy a pipe because it may last a long, long time. Also, if you hit a hiatus in pipe smoking,
keep your pipes. Life circumstances may bring you back. By the way, my leaf is C&D Big 'n Burley.
