I have two smoking jackets. A red and black flannel for when it’s nice, a black hoodie for when it’s a bit chilly. And when it’s cold out…. flannel over hoodie.

I read an article a few years ago that the real purpose of a smoking jacket was to absorb all the tobacco smell so that your clothes did not smell badly for your significant other later that evening.

This is exactly why I have a designated hoodie and/or a smoking tunic that I don when heading out to the patio for a smoke. Anything I can do to diminish the amount of smoke that ends up on my clothing only helps to maintain marital harmony.

(Obviously I also wash my hands and brush my teeth after taking off the tunic and/or hoodie when coming inside after a smoking session!)

I have a crap hoodie for that reason when it's cold, though mostly for cigarettes.

So far, I haven't had a pipe tobacco yet that my wife found to be appalling after I've had it. She can't stand my cigarettes though. I'm sure if I smoked cigars, she would find that smell unpleasant.

Why did I click this link. I really like these clothes they offer, but man it’s pricey! Let me know if there are other men’s stores similar. We have a Patrick James out here where I live and they offer some quality menswear.

I had a few smoking jackets that were quite nice and costly.
Wife didn’t like them and threw them away. I was very displeased…. She didn’t understand they kept the smoke off your cloths…..
She also learned real quickly I know how to change someone’s attitude in 3 seconds or less.
