Ok, I have read that pipe tobacco smell does not make clothes / furniture / fabric smell...
My question is... doesnt make it smell? or doesnt make it smell bad?
My girlfriend loves the smell of the tobacco as its burning and likes to be around it,
but the other day I smoked a small bowl and then ran down and jumped in her car, and she
stated I stink...
My guess is the pipe tobacco does smell and will make you smell... temporarily, then dies off.
Opinions?

It's still smoke so yeah it still smells. I just think it's different. For me it seems to go away faster/better than cigarette smoke. Of course I usually only smoke 1 or 2 bowls a day. My 13 yer old son still says "get away from me with that pipe." Probably not a bad thing though.

I find it doesn't leave me smelling like some of my friends whom already smoke multiple packs of cigarettes. I really don't mind the smell of tobacco. I'm sure if i smoked about twenty bowls a day, I would end up smelling like my friends too.

Pipe smoke definitely "smells" as does any other form of smoke.
Most smokers like it; often their family and friend strongly disagree.
Nonsmokers will hate it just as much as any other tobacco...
If you are smoking certain virginia/burley/turkish blends, then people may associate the smell of your pipe tobacco with cigarettes because cigarettes are often made from those leaves.
Aromatics, particularly those of the Captain Black vanilla-marshmellow variety, are probably the only tobaccos where you will get a positive response from the general public - and even that is likely to be from an older audience with pipe smoking nostalgia... Even that will stale after awhile!
If you or your loved ones don't like the smell of tobacco smoke, then you'll probably have to shower and brush your teeth after smoking because it'll still be noticeable.
Think about it - smoking a cigarette takes 5 minutes at most; smoking a pipe takes 30/45/60 minutes of basking in your own smoke. Of course you will smell like it, particularly if you are in an enclosed space!

It definitely does have a smell - that goes without saying.
I try to smoke aros indoors to please the family, but even I can admit that in the morning, there's a lingering, stale tobacco odor. Not nearly as bad a cigarettes but there's no denying that tobacco has an odor.
My wife's been pretty tolerant of my pipe smoking, so if the smell bothers her, I want to try and minimize it as much as possible. To that end I sometimes throw a fleece sweater on when I smoke (like my smoking jacket). And then take it off when I'm done. And of course brush those teeth. :puffy:

A small ozone machine sure helps with the stale pipe tobacco smell in the home. They aint exactly cheap, but there are many for sale on ebay. They work, but there is some controversy over health concerns from the ozone machine itself. Check it out. My dog never ever complains about indoor pipe smoking or clothes reeking of turkish pipe tobacco. Good dog. woof. :puffy:
