While I can appreciate the design and quality of pipes made by Jody Davis, I've never been a particular fan. Essentially, pipes in my preferred size range aren't common from his workshop.
That brings me to this pipe, my first by Jody. I saw it on the SPC table at Muletown this year. In fact, I came around to it and picked it up several times- eventually Shane noticed and he offered a price on it.
This is one of those pipes that I would look at but pass up online. Based solely on the numbers - length & weight- I'd likely never pay it any further mind.
Because I encountered it in person first, it got a chance.
So despite the numbers, this piece doesn't feel too long or too heavy to me.
I assume the forthcoming smoke will be the first of many satisfying ones.
