As suggested by OzPiper, here are two of my favourite "innovative" system pipes.

The first is the Jima, a plastic and metal body, with a clay bowl

The system is a hollow tube, basically:

Within that tube is an "electrostatic" filter, basically just a tight coil of wire. It is impossible to run a pipe cleaner through it, but the system actually does work, and I've never had a gurgle. The filters are meant to be replaced frequently (so I don't actually use one most of the time as they are difficult to find today).

The second is the Monarch, made by the same people who later made the Aerosphere and the Magic Inch

It has a metal, screw in tank. It is actually screwed into the briar, and thus the female end is on the stem:

The stem has an air intake valve, and a large reservoir. So the smoke runs through the metal tank, mixes with a shot of air, and the moisture is meant to collect in the reservoir. When I first used it, I noticed it leaked a bit, but a little PTFE tape on the threads fixed it.

Both of these systems actually work, but they are a lot more complicated to clean.

@Donb1972'

Thanks for posting.

I've seen quite a few of the Jimas on EBay, but had absolutely no idea that the tube came apart or that a coil was hidden within.
I had just assumed that it was a "fancy French Falcon". cray
What might be expected from the nation that gave us Citroens ?
Now I know.

More please

C'mon Tim (@ashdigger ), I know you have more than a few interesting ones lurking about.

After an absence caused by an assignment, and then the need for an appendectomy, I have a few more interesting pipes to share

This one is the Doodler. Probably one many of you have seen. It's one of the more gimmicky pipes, but it smokes very well, and it reminds me of a wooden version of those "futuristic" aluminum pipes that were around in the mid-twentieth century.

The second is a Trapwell. It is a system pipe, but the system is all inside, so I was not really able to take photos. But it is a rather complex system. The neat thing is that this pipe has a very small bowl, and is made of mountain laurel.

The third is a Lenox. All wood, except for the vulcanite mouthpiece, the bakelite stinger, and the brass connectors in the bowl and on the body. It's kind of like a wooden Kirsten, minus the removable front cap.
