Looked out window to check snow fall and observed several White Tail deer in the orchard. They were pawing threw in quest of rotten apples. All of a sudden two fell rolling over and over. My wife was very upset and requested that I should contact conservation office. The deer stumbled away and I realized that they were drunk from the fermented fruit.

That's the literal meaning of being intoxicated. Whether they lost their inhibitions and indulged in any reindeer games is unknown. Elephants have been seen to get roaring drunk and topple over on indigenous fermented fruit. Why do elephants drink? To forget.
