In the sticks in Mississippi
I've bought a lot of tobacco from The Country Squire over the years, but have never gotten around to ordering some Shepherd's Pie. Well, thanks to a generous forum member here (David) he sent me a very generous amount when he heard about the passing of wife. Man, I've been missing out on a great tobacco! The scent was a very rich English Latakia forward blend. However, smoking it was more of a mellow English experience. I read that it was similar to FMC, but I haven't had FMC in so long that I don't remember exactly what it was like. There are some similarities for sure from what I do remember, but this seems to be a much richer warmer blend. I'm loving it!
The members here on this forum are the best, thanks everyone!

Sorry to hear about the passing of your wife. That is rough.

I have been eyeing shepherds pie for sometime, but have not yet ordered it. I have heard the FMC comparisons or even FMOTT. If I may ask, does it remind you of any other blends?

I haven't compared it to any other English blends that I have, but for some reason it reminds me a little of Lane's Crown Achievement. Everybody's tastes are going to be different, but I'm partial to rich tasting English blends. I would also recommend Hunting Creek from the Country Squire too, which I think is somewhat similar to the Frog Morton blends.

The blend sounds intriguing, but a little too food heavy on the branding for me!

Orley, I remember your wife had great taste in pipes, but have no memory of what blends she liked to smoke? Or did you just share the same stash?

Thank you and thanks for the recommendations. Your review pushed me to pickup some Shepherds Pie today. Starting there and I know it will be good. Thanks again.

My wife and I pretty much shared the same tobaccos. She actually like Lakeland blends a little more than me. (how can you not love that kind of weirdness) One of both of our favorites was Whiskey Biscuit Gravy from Just for Him online. Did NOT taste of Whiskey, Biscuits or Gravy, but is an English cross over type of blend much like FMC and Hunting Creek from the Country Squire. We liked all kinds, and that's probably why I have so many open jars!

I was thoroughly enjoying Shepherd's Pie all Spring... right up until the 96 degree weather hit. It has a nice touch of sweetness to it that works well when you don't want to overthink smoking a blend. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I highly recommend it.

SP tastes to me like a cross between FMOTT and Squadron Leader. I like it a lot.

I too like Whiskey Biscuit Gravy. I blend it about 1/3 WBG to 2/3 Boswell Northwoods.
