Any chance at all of doing this with a dremel tool? I don't exactly feel like testing the hardness by cutting into one of the pipes I already have, but I'd like to know before I order any wood.

Nothing is imposable . Some things are highly improbable though. With a coping saw, and a few other tools you should be able to produce a pipe. Not the prettiest ever made but smokable.
