I have one question to the fellow pipers out there can you still send to Shannon airport to order pipes I have a Peterson sliver spigot that I ordered from them years ago sincerely Felix cappuccio.
I just threw it out there it's been so long. Are you asking if there is a pipe shop at the airport?
The airport used to sell their own line of pipes, in one of the duty free gift shops. All Peterson's but stamped 'Shannon'. Long gone now of course. @felix Cappuccio
You now can order direct from Peterson's themselves online or from smokingpipeseu.
We were able to do it flying home via Dublin a couple of years ago on Aer Lingus, lol, it took forever that day, still remember folks way, way back in the line getting fidgety, some trying to crowd in line, whining and complaining because they got to the airport late (despite plenty of admonitions from the airline) and so forth - we got there plenty early (fortunately my wife is fussy about that or I'd still be there). Maybe that was a new thing for them at Dublin airport, and at the time Shannon was still unavailable to us related to whatever had affected the airport or airline post-COVID. We would have preferred flying into Shannon and home out of Dublin, but not to be - bonus was driving over to the coast to Roundstone (you were spot on about the hospitality) from Dublin made it more convenient to see The Quiet Man sights on the way so a great first day and best first Irish dinner ever at the Roundstone Hotel!Shannon is where the first "Irish Coffee" was concocted. A grounded aircraft left a bunch of Americans needing a diversion, bartender to the rescue. 1930"s? You can still get one, a great one, at the bar.
An aside, Shannon was/is the only foreign airport I know of where you can clear American Customs so, no delay when returning to the US. It's a great deal. I always booked into and out of Shannon. The West was my destination most times so, very convenient.
