So I got this really cool looking MM corn cob from an antique shop recently. For 7 bucks! It's a straight stemmed churchwarden. I only say it's an MM because it isn't a soft or flimsy cob like the china-made ones. It has a really solid bottom and the typical finish some of MM's cobs have. But anyway, the stem fits into the shank crooked. I've checked the stem and tenon and they are perfectly straight; it's the shank fit that is drilled a tad crooked. So any suggestions on how to fix that? It's a great looking pipe, and I'd hate to try and find another cob to fit it (especially because I think the MM tenons are thicker than this one).

You could try stuffing some old newspaper down there, or some toilet paper. I mean, it is a cob!

But seriously, no, nothing comes to mind.

Seems to me the only way you could fix that problem is cut off 3/4" or so of the shank and re-drill it.But that may not even be possible, depends on how deeply the mortise was originally drilled.Think I'd just leave it and smoke it as is.
