So, I came back to my jar of SG perfection after a while away from it. I think it's a cooler weather kind of smoke. But all that I taste now is latakia and none of the topping that I enjoy. The same thing happened with SG chocolate flake. My tastes have certainly shifted away from latakia, so maybe I notice it far more than I did before. But has anyone else noticed this with some SG blends, or any topped blend for that matter? I am a bit surprised because the jars were well sealed--where did the flavour go?

Totally normal.

In my opinion the only way to really enjoy Lakeland blends is from a fresh tin.

I feel your pain. Sometimes I prefer the blend with the diminished toppings but most often not. I guess the lesson is to smoke Lakeland’s fresh.
GH would likely tell you the same (and I would agree, GH/SG is perfect the minute you pop the tin). If I buy a GH/SG blend, I open it almost immediately and try to smoke the whole tin within a month.

The story is that GH/SG tins have never been made for long term storage. Our tobacco is and always has been made to smoke, not store for years and years.

Yeah, it fades though I must admit I don't mind it so much with 1792 that I can deal with but I try to smoke most all the others right away.
