SG Grousemoor

I have been trying to branch out and try different tobaccos that, so far, have been off my radar. Recently Roth recommended Sunday Picnic, so I ordered a tin of that which I am waiting to receive. A few folks also extolled the virtues of Grousemoor, so I ordered some of that and it came in yesterday. I am working from home today and am smoking my first bowl of Grousemoor in celebration of IPSD. This is really different stuff. I enjoy the citrus flavour notes. I don't see it as an everyday smoke for me yet, but it is growing on me, and I can certainly see enjoying a tin of this now and again. Any thoughts as to how Grousemoor ages? I really don't care if it gets better, but does it lose that citrus note over time?

Also, I chose to smoke this stuff in a cob out of fear it would ghost my briars. Does this stuff ghost a pipe pretty badly?

Ghosting isn't an issue for me.

In my opinion (based on my observation) that ghosting may be noticeable if you follow a bowl of Samuel Gawith Grousemoor with a light tobacco. For me it isn't noticeable at all. Grousemoor is one of my favorite tobaccos and smokes best in a smaller sized bowl. While smoking it in a large bowl is very tasty, the "lemon grass" taste can be a bit overwhelming.

I have some Grousemoor smoked a couple of bowls and all I can say is Yuk. It has a nasty after taste, it tastes like something went bad in it. Maybe cellaring it for a long period of time might help, I hope !! LOL!!!

LOL Timely. I could give you a list of 100 aromatics that are a lot further down the list for me than Grousemoor!

I have some bulk Grousemoor bought from SP at the beginning of the year. It came to me slightly aged. While still fairly moist, the lemongrass/Bergamot/Earl Grey flavor seems to have rounded off some, perhaps integrated with the VA and doesn't come out as pungent as from a freshly opened tin.
Courtesy of a member here I've also smoked some Grousemoor that was in a tin opened for quite a while to the point it was bone dry and in need of rehydration. After getting the moisture back in the baccy, the flavor was somewhat mellower, very similar IIRC to the aged bulk.
I believe it's not necessarily that the Lakeland wore off, but rather the VA aged a bit and lost some of its' original sharpness.
