Not me, but my parents - both were in the service from 1978 to 1983. Mom was a Navy meteorologist and Dad was in the Air Force in the 33rd Ops Support SQ, 2nd Weather Squadron. His patch said "Fire from the Clouds." I was born on the Naval base in Pensacola but I don't know much about Mom's service history. She had a real rough time of it but she loves to talk about watching the storms over the gulf from the roof of the base. She also likes to tell us that the Navy pays for a certain amount of medical supply while you're pregnant and if you didn't use it all, then you got reimbursed for the supplies. She made $18 off of me and $83 off my brother.

Dad served in Korea and had a tough time.
When he came home, he hated the military, government, and people in general.
He became very cynical and untrusting.
When I considered entering post high school, he forbade it.
I think he was the only guy not surprised by Watergate...he never trusted any institution again.
Sadly, people and government keep living down to his lowest expectations.
I do admire those that served. Thanks to all!
