Hi all
I have just recently started smoking. Problem is I suffer from a bit of sensitive gag reflex. Simply put when I have the stem clenched between my teeth and let go of the pipe with my hand it tends to set my reflex off.

I have a few different pipes they include a Savinelli church warden 601, a large bent meerschaum, a bent corncob, a bent apple and a small Butz Choquin mini church warden.

All these pipes seem to trigger it to different degrees.

I would like to know if any body has the same problem and if so is their a specific type of pipe or stem, that will help me? Is it just something that I have to deal with or will it get better with time like holding a respirator in your mouth while scuba diving.

Your just supposed to clinch the bit, not the stummel.
All kidding aside.
Your doing something strange with your tongue. Its not the pipe. Something between your teeth should never set off your gag reflex.
