Well call me a weirdo, sell out, half-hearted pipe smoker, or whatever else but I tend to only smoke my pipes in the colder months haha. I just got back from stocking up on mason jars and placed am order online for some baccy. It feels good to be getting back into the swing of things. I tend to smoke cigars in the warmer months but as soon as it starts getting colder I start 'craving' pipes. I believe it will be warmer here until Tuesday when it supposed to be in the 20s and I can't wait to pack a bowl. Are there any other weirdos out there like me that tend to only smoke in the colder months? It's going to be a great winter!

i'm not really a seasonal smoker, although i do find i hit the pipes and gars more in winter than summer.....i kind of go through phases when i smoke daily, then i might go without for a week or two....where i live the summers dont really get too hot, but the winters can bite somewhat and there's nothing that warms the hand better than a lit briar....glad to know you're stocking up for the winter...the temperatures here (scotland) are due to plummet in a few days after an unseasonably warm autumn so far, so i guess i'll be firing up one of these bad boys and joining you
happy smoking!

With +100 degrees during the Texas summers, I only crave pipe smoking in the colder months. I'm starting to become obsessed with it again! This is the first year that I'm letting my craving for pipes run wild; I've developed a bout of PAD for sure. 8O I'm enjoying it so far.

Hottest summer ever in Texas this year, I didn't touch my pipes for months.
I tend to smoke from around October or November to April or -maybe- March.
I started early this year, to hell with the heat (still in the high 80s and to me that's still too damned hot) -- picked up back up on the 3rd of this month I think. But I much prefer pipes to winter months. . .they just don't seem right when its hot -- kinda like coffee.

+1 yoru, I start in November and stop when it get warm usually March. Looks like a warm mild fall here in California. So I will start late this year.

I smoke outside, and it was very hot in Georgia this summer so I didn't smoke a pipe as much as I would have liked to. It's sure nice to be outside smoking now that it's cooler.

Im with you wallbright. I hardly ever smoke in the summer, though I don't really have a reason. I've noticed the last few weeks I've been craving pipes. PAD and TAD is back in full force.

Haha its funny that you guys mention the Texas heat as that is where I am from. The heat wave this summer in Dallas was ridiculous and is one of the reasons I didn't smoke my pipes. I tried once but it was miserable holding something hot in my hand while it was 100 degrees out (even at 1am). I go to school in Arkansas and I am glad it is getting colder now but soon it will be too cold haha.

Colorado doesn't have the same heat as Texas and I am not a seasonal smoker, but I do tend to smoke more in the winter. I am not sure why. I have found I have seasonal blends as well. I smoke more aros and light blends in the summer and heavy blends with lots of latakia in the winter.

God I miss Colorado -- stays in temperatures sufficient for pipe smoking year round.

I can relate to the hot season non-smokers. I'm glad to be in New England where the weather is more temperate. Without an air-conditioned environment in high temps, I found pipe smoking to be less enjoyable also. But the search for the perfect pipes, and stocking up on tobaccos never ceases. Glad you guys are now enjoying more favorable pipe smoking temperatures down south.

I rarely smoke outdoors, but for some reason the changing seasons affect my preferences anyway.

I smoke Va's in Summer, as Marc suggests, and slowly transition to VaPers and Burley-forward blends in the cooler months.

(I can't handle the Latakias anymore, and I only dabble in aromatics, but I haven't noticed a pattern.)

Well, to begin with, I'm primarily a weekend smoker and also haven't been at it long, but I do see myself becoming a seasonal smoker to a degree. Northern California never gets hot for too long in the Summer, but, when it did, I found myself favoring VA and VAPer's and smaller pipes a little more. I'm anxious to see if the Fall and cooler weather has me looking to my latakia blends again.

This little puppy plans to smoke all year round. Just a little rain to deal with here in the Pacific Northwest, but mild all year. I have to stock up for the summer months.
