Saw this on smokingpipes.com, apropos of recent enthusiasm for the pot shape:

Stan, that one's a beauty. I have to admit, I was so taken with the Savenelli pot, I ordered one, and it disappeared from the site for a few days and then up popped another, so I thought I'd share my appreciation of it. It's a nice lightweight pipe, and still has that big wide bowl.

I keep turning away from the filtered Briars, but maybe I shouldn't. My small collection lacks a Pot and I am very drawn to them. That Savinelli looks attractive, and I like the chamber diameter.

Some their 115 models are filterless.

It looks a bit furry to me, but maybe that's just the resolution of the photo. Plus, I think I'd prefer a thicker shank and stem.

Beautiful. I will say that, aside from the iconic Castello Shape 55, that Jody Davis pot is one of the few pot shaped pipes that actually revs my engine. Wonderful stuff.

Every Sav can be smoked without the filter. But if you don't want the extra-bore draw, they sell 9mm adaptors for pennies - or dimes at the most.

Most of my Sav's are designed without filters, unfinished Savs, a 601 churchwarden, and an Oscar Lucite Prince. However my wife gave me a distinguished looking Sav Opera 673 KS bulldog for Christmas and it operates well with the adapter to narrow and focus the draw a little. I have mixed feelings about smoking filter pipes without filters; many do fine, but some seem to over-aspirate and give you too much air and not enough flavor. I think you have to decide a pipe at a time. The bulldog is 1/4 bent but takes a pipe cleaner to the bowl through the adapter. I think the pot shape is a great tradition.

That is a "simple" yet elegant looking pipe and at a very reasonable price. I don't have any pots yet and that Savinelli shape is one that I've been eyeing. I need a pipe or two with a wide shallow bowl. All of my current pipes have narrow deep bowls. :puffy:
