I just ordered a new Savinelli because I just loved the shape and finish. Evidently these come with a filter:
" . . . Supports the balsa filter system (6mm) but can also be smoked without filters using the included converter tube. . . . "
I've no present intention of using a filter, but have never really seen this system before. Anyone have experience with/thoughts about this system?

I have no experience with the filters; however, I would keep everything, and try it out sometime just to see what YOU think. I have the Brigham rock maple filters to be the only ones I actually like. The Brigham filters allow a pipe cleaner to be passed, and can really tame a bitey tobacco. I would imagine the balsa filters would do the same.
The Brigham filters can be used 20-30 times depending on the tobacco moisture level.

I like the Savinelli filter system. It is the only filter system that I ever use, but I do not always use it. They are helpful when smoking tobacco that smokes "wet". I also only use the filter once before I chuck it since I don't smoke with them all the time. I'd say try both and if you don't like don't use it.
