This Sasieni Mayfair shape 88 was on Ebay last week, and it included the box and bag. From the sellers pictures, it appeared to be unsmoked. Sure enough, on delivery today, she's a virgin! The original Sasieni "Pre-carb" bowl treatment was intact as well.
The stem was free of oxidation, aided no doubt by being kept in the bag and box.
The nomenclature is '79 or earlier, wish I knew when more specifically when this one was sold.

@pitchfork: Not sure, I already have three other Ashfords. My Natural was unsmoked, but it was smoked on the birth of my granddaughter. Right now, it's an itch I don't have to scratch.

Lovely pipe do the stems compare well to the dot pipes?

@jpm - the "dot" draft hole? (there's also some stain runoff on the edge, around the 5'o clock mark)
@owen - that is the great thing about Sasieni 2nd lines, the stem work is comparable to the Four Dots. (Sashar, etc.) I don't care much for 2nd line stems from Comoy's, etc., they are too plasticky.

'79 or earlier...not too sure about that. I see the COM mark, but whenever I see those "generic" S sheild stamps, I think post 1979. By the early '80's catalog that used to be at pipepages, all of the "seconds" lines used that stem mark.

I have two Sasieni Mayfairs. They are both stamped like Als. They have had the sheild on the stems,

now buffed off as they were badly green. Bought here in Danmark in the early 80ties. I also got a copy of that mentioned catalog.
I also have two other Mayfairs. They came from America and they are stamped football/ Sasieni Mayfair and London Made on the other side. On top of both stems " M ".
