...well, it ain't dott'd, but it seems like a fine pipe nonetheless, I ain't smoked her yet, just picked it up last week.
I like lightly stained pipes and this one called to me because of that, I've found around 3 fills which I reckon kept it from being a Four Dot or even a Two Dot, and the odd sparse crosscut grain ain't really that spectacular, but whatever, I think it's a beauty.
Aside from the worn baby-blue S stem logo and a few knock nicks, this thing is in fine condition. The button seems a bit thick, is Sasieni known for thick buttons?
How would you rate the stem quality of the seconds to the dott'd pipes?

Were the stems on the dotties of a tremendously much higher caliber?
And, just exactly how many seconds lines did Sasieni have anyways?

It seems like they had a bunch of them.
Any info on this particular Ivory line?
I'd guess it was a 70's make.
Any significance drawn from the football shaped "made in" stamp?
It had no stinger.
It looks to be hardly smoked at all in fact,

the coloration has remained light an undarkened.
Any info is much appreciated!

I think that's a great looking pipe!

The only ones I have any experience with are a couple of Old England pipes I have (both of which look very similar to yours). I've been told that they're Sasieni seconds.

Both of them are excellent smokers, with nice, comfortable stems! Both are marked as Virgin Briar, one doesn't have a model No., the other is marked 27N. Both of them have 1 dot on the stem.

Ok, had to do a little searching. The Ivory is mentioned in the 1979 Tinderbox catalog at pipepages, "Made to our specifications by Albert Sasieni of London. The Sasieni Ivory is a Tinder Box exclusive."
I'm not sure who Albert Sasieni was!!! An embarrassing typo, company was run by Alfred Sasieni.
Shape 11, the Cromer, my go to pipe is an Old England rusticated 11, a great smoker.

Thanks Pete,

I thought she was a good looker too!
And I have heard generally from many sources that very often the Sasieni seconds are extraordinary smokers.

LOL

That is funny!
Thanks man for info.
Since this is a Tinder Box pipe, it'd seem to me to occupy one of the lower rungs as far as collectibility goes, and it was probably among the last of the family-era pipes?
Unless it'd be considered a 79-86 transition piece?
What say ye?

Well, 1979, the end of the family era. By the 1983 Tinderbox catalog they are featuring the Trafalger. My guess is you could think of it like a Unique, Tinderbox's pipes made by Charatan's.
