I have never ordered a sampler pack. I get quite focused on particular tobaccos, and I have
on occasion selected and tried three or four, or combined my picks with several others received
as birthday or holiday gifts. I have also ordered CD and other blending tobaccos and used them
to bolster or customize blends, or when using up remains of pouches or tins. But sample packs
have always seemed too boxed in to me (I guess that could be a pun). I mean, if I get four or
five tobaccos, I know there will be one (or two) I just can't use no matter how I mix or age it.
But a number of Forums members have had some good experiences with sampler packs. Which
ones? And what was good about buying in a predetermined array? Does this work best for
new pipe smokers, or do some old hands have an adventure with a group of new blends? I may
never get a sampler, but I'm not closed minded to the idea. Tell me about some experiences,
if you please.
