After my most recent Kosher Salt and alchohol cleaning my pipes have a very salty taste. I took them to my local tobacconist who was kind enough to use their pipe cleaning methods on them. Though reduced, the salty taste is still prevalent in the pipes. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

Totally agree with the cotton wool balls over the salt. As Duane correctly states, it's much quicker and less messy. Plus of course no salty aftertaste.
You really need to cram them in there nice and tight then use a pipette to drip in the alcohol of your choice...some use bourbon, some use rum but I prefer 99.9% pure alcohol myself.
Welcome to the forum by the way :puffy:

Jay.

You should only be doing a salt cleaning if your trying to get rid of a foul cake buildup . Instead use pipe freshener or sweetener. Brandy or whiskey works good too. Dont wash a briar with water it ruins it. You can also ream the bowl with a pipe knife then dip a pipe cleaner in sweetner and clean inside of bowl with it.
