I'm a beginning "piper"...I smoked maybe 15 pipes so far...I love my WO Larsen edition 2013 tobacco but I decided to try another one...the S&G Fire dance should be mild, but after (not even) half a bowl I get a serious nicotine kick...it happened twice this far...anyone had a similar experience? Did I do something wrong or is this tobacco just not for me? WO Larsen's blend had no such effect on me...
thanks

I haven't had Firedance but I've had a number of the other SG offerings. Their base virginias are all pretty potent. So, I suspect the Firedance may be mild as compared to their other tobaccos but still on the higher side. I love their stuff but I wouldn't advise starting off with it. My suggestion is to throw it in a mason jar for now. Smoke what you like now and in 6 months or more, go back to the Firedance and your nicotine sensitivity may have changed.
There is also the question of whether you had eaten recently. The old "try it with a sweet drink" may also help the nicotine issue.

It also may be your body's condition at the moment. I have had 1Q almost knock me out of a chair, but it was because I was severely hungry waiting for diner and probably a bit dehydrated. Since I have always made sure I didn't have a completely empty stomach and usualy have a drink while I am smoking my pipe as well.
I cellar firedance and think it is a great tobacco (though many here think it smells of sweaty feet). I don't think it is too strong. Especially compared to the likes to some of the MB blends.
