Hello Everyone

I have been reading this board for about 6 months(since I began this new hobby) and it has been a tremendous source of information. THANK YOU! I purchased a Savinelli rusticated and while smoking today I noticed 2 slits in the front of the outside of the bowl. Is this normal at times when its a rusticated finish? I haven't smoked it hot and have only smoked Dunhill EMP. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was normal or can help me out with any ideas. I just purchased it two weeks ago at thr pipe Show in NJ.
Thanks again
Mark

So now what? Can I contact Savinelli or am I beat? Any Suggestions? I apologize for the typo and the blank post (on my prior posts)still trying to figure this site out. Thanks

That's no slit my friend. That's a crack! Probably came about through cake expansion, before you got it. No real remedy. Could try superglue, but I'd just chalk it up to a learning experience.

Welcome and sorry mgolfd.
If you do end up going for the superglue route there's a black tinted super glue. (I didn't know that until a few months ago)
Also you'd probably need to "mud" over the interior of the bowl with a mix of ash/water/honey to protect it. I've actually only done it once to protect a bowl that had some spider webbing. Seems to have worked, but I try not to smoke it hot anyway. If you go that route, there's guys with 100x more knowledge about that if you poise a specific question.

I received a phone call today from Savinelli, they are replacing this one and sending me a brand new one this week. Great News.

You should get in touch with whoever you bought the pipe from. Any reputable vendor will stand behind it, even if it's been smoked.
If you have any problems, let me know and I will help you out.

That's good news. I missed the original post, but good to see the company was responsible and responsive. Good work, Savinelli!
