Here in Spain we just received some tins of Royal Twist's latest drop. It came as a pleasant surprise to me because I didn't expect to be able to get it (I've never tried it) if not through the secondary market.

And I've got two questions about it. Was this batch made pre-STG? And will STG keep on making it every now and then?

PS just in case the person responsible reads it: we appreciate the Spanish text in the labels, but the design is so beautiful that it deserves painted labelling. Just saying.

Hi! That was my project while I was still at Mac Baren. Glad it finally made it to Spain, sorry for the wait and I hope you enjoy it!

The idea came last year before we were bought by STG... it was either going to be Royal Twist or Burley London Blend. As I was watching TV one day, I saw the coronation of the new king of Denmark: Frederick X... and I thought: okay, its's gotta be the Royal Twist 😂 as a tribute to him. Also, my bosses at management were sceptical of Limited Edition pipe tobaccos, so I wanted something that would fly off the shelves - to prove to them that there is potential in "new" releases... as this had never been available in Germany (and other markets). Result: It was a full success. When it dropped in Germany (3000 tins), it sold out in 6 hours (!!).

That gave Marketing and myself the leverage for beginning the planning stages of 3 new Mac Baren pipe tobaccos. We were sooo excited, and R&D and the blenders were really excited... but a few months later, we were sold and everything was stopped.

Yeah, sorry about the health sticker - but its a EU regulation. Also painted tins just aren't a thing anymore, sadly. Also we had to do a few other changes to the text on the tin... for instance we couldn't use the phrase "DE LUXE" and instead used "SUPERIOR". Also, I included "Handcrafted"

As to the future of Royal Twist, that is up to STG with Maciej Pilarszyk, the guy that decides about STG tobaccos.

God bless you, man. Thank you for the tobacco, and thank you for the information.
