I know that there is shag cut pipe tobacco, but could I use that for rolling tobacco? Also what would be the difference?

Sure. Any of the SG or G&H shags will roll up a decent smoke. It will most likely have lots more kick and real flavor.

Mmmm... that's how I started pipe smoking to begin with. This old and traveled French guy at the farmers market my family sells goat dairy at in Costa Rica taught me how to roll. And he always used burley and cavendish blends from france. I started doing the same and soon became far too infatuated with pipe tobacco to keep smoking it with not but a paper night gown to warm it up. So withing a year or so I bought my fair Lady Nicotine a proper home of briar in which to furnace our pleasures. It was a tough start, but soon became all we ever did together. We hardly ever step out of our briar home anymore to experience the raw and fierce beauty of the naked world. But occasionally she'll strip down to her undergarments for me and give a tease when the time is right and things go stagnant.
Wow... I have a problem. But anyway, I used to roll aromatics and they lasted like 20 minutes because they burned so slow. People loved it though. And alas, I just heard last week that my traveled friend died. Rest well, Charlie! :puffy:

Yes, I've heard G&H Dark Birdseye & Kendall Dark are good. But strong! Not for the faint of heart. Not sure which SG ones are shag, I'd love to know. And Five Brothers by Pinkerton.

D&R's Three Sails is totally a mild VA shag, and also to some extent their Ryback, which is a little stronger, like the Dutch RYOs you are probably familiar with. But these are really RYO's, not pipe baccies. There are guhzillions of RYO's out there fraudulently labelling themselves as pipe baccies, but most not proper fine shag like Drum or Samson, if that's what you say you're looking for, and it should really be a proper pipe baccie, not an RYO.

There's always Prince Albert--not exactly a shag, its moniker of "crimp cut" is unique, but rolls up fine just like a shag, makes a great cigarette.

Nick PS makes pipe cuts for thier more popular silk cut blends , but they are not quite the same . In terms of strength or flavor . PT 80/81/83/84 . You will have to use scissors and recut them to a proper size for rolling .PS silk cuts can add a lot of flavor to a blend that you make yourslef even with the 50 dollar price tag for 10oz . DR blends are RYO and in IMO are not pipe tobacco . I make my own cigarettes and they cost more than most premades . Perhaps a pipe and some good English blend will curb your craving for cigarettes , It does mine .

Not to be a kill joy, but you are making the case for the anti's that argue pipe tobacco is a tax loop hole for the RYO crowd. Not that they need any excuse to whine about something.
