I pride myself on my ability to converse with other people with out loosing my cool.Today though I was tested almost to my limit.It started when a neighbor lady told me that her and her boy friend are buying tobacco to roll their own cigarettes.As we here know This is cigarette tobacco being listed as pipe tobacco to avoid taxes.It's a primary reason some want to impose this tax on real pipe tobacco.I was pretty confused as to what I should say.I didn't want to ruin a friendship buy telling her what I think of the situation so I just walked away.

Buy her a corncob pipe and a package of P.A.

Tell her that it's better than putting tobacco in a paper tube.

As for the issue of dodging taxes, who's fault is that?

Well I roll my own , at first it was to save money , now it is about quality . Some of the tobacco I use is not cheap by any means PS Amsterdam ribbon cut is over 40 a pound thanks to the taxes . At one time cigarette tobacco was cheap now most of it is paperbag tobacco with the 300+ chemicals . I know what I will do .I will trick F..k you into turning against one another and slowly eat away at your freedom ,yeah that is how it is done . Cant wait for the 50 cent a can beer tax to kick in so I can spend that money on entitlement programs as well . :evil:

I also have issues with the ryo being tied into pipe tobacco. The NEW tobacco is being marketed as that NEw tobacco and not ryo to avoid the taxes. I wish more pipe smokers would read into this. If our tobacco goes up, it's only because of this new type of tobacco that is ryo and NOT pipe tobacco. Of course some may smoke that in their pipe, but I don't want to pay more for my real pipe tobacco because some companies are putting their ryo "pipe tobacco" in the same category. Go to any ryo website and you will see what I'm talking about. I don't put any smooth tobacco in my pipe, nor do I smoke Red cap, gambler, cross cross, Golden harvest, 4 aces or action pipe tobacco because to me those are Ryo tobacco and NOT pipe tobacco.

Some people are slow learners tobacco is tobacco no matter how it is enjoyed . I for one do not pass judgement on anyones smoking habits . Less I endanger my own . The cigarette tobacco tax is a stepping stone , they could not tax everything at once , that would cause outcry among the masses . If we do not support other tobbaco users choices we are all sure to lose the battle . Sheeple Bahhhhhhhhhhh .

Hopefully none of you guys cussing RYO like to smoke anything with perique in it.

Cause that bastard Mark Ryan that saved the entire Perique industry a few years back is one of those backstabbing, pipe hating SOBs that makes RYO as Pipe Tobacco.

How about we all figure out we're in the same boat and we're all being unjustly attacked.

RYO is just an excuse, when they really dont need an excuse to screw you just like they screwed everyone else.

Very simply, Divide and Conquer is only making the job easier.

Actually, I know Mark Ryan Personally. He belongs to the TAPS pipe club in Raleigh. When the RYO tax went through he WAS scrambling to convert to pipe tobak. Sometime prior to that he started smoking a pipe. I think the roll your own people and people in any other business have the right to do anything they can legally to save their investment in their business. They used a loophole in the tax law to do that. I for one am not going to beat them over the head for doing so. I think we will all end up in the same boat eventually.

Why should my habit go up because the Ryo industry is using pipe tobacco as a loophole so they can continue, I don't use ryo, never had and never will. I don't like perique but it might be in some blends I smoke, and really could care less who saved the whole industry, good for him or her and those who like it. As far as I'm concerned ryo can bite the dust. I understand that were all in this together and the divide and conquer aspect, but don't raise my prices based on the garbage of ryo. I think it just makes pipe smokers in the same category as Ryo or cigarette smokers. My opinion love it or hate it. Why couldn't ryo just stay ryo??
