Can I use "roll-your-own cigarette" tobacco in my pipe?

I just tried some RYO in my pipe the other day, and I didn't like it. Could have been the brand, or my personal preference, but I didn't even make it halfway through the bowl. AND, it was labeled as "pipe tobacco," but like I thought, and as another member here pointed out, it must have been labeled as such, to get around laws and regulations. Maybe there is a RYO out there that is good in a pipe, but I'm not sure, seeing as I'm fairly new to the pipe.

For 16 yrs I have been using Drum in the light blue packaging. However, I seldom use it as a stand alone. I like to use it as a base for layering with Penzance, Stonehaven, Frog Morton, etc.

You'd do better using pipe tobacco for your RYO gigarettes.
