Hi new hear, I come from the cigar world... I had an idea though, what if I bought nice flavored pipe tobacco and rolled it into cigarettes just to enjoy the smoke without using a pipe? So I would be doing it just for flavor, and not inhaling... Not inhaling... Is this a good idea? Would it burn to hot? Not worth it? Just sounds like a good idea to me... Tips? Thanks

I've never tried that, but I imagine that the paper wrapper and cigarette filter (if you used a filter) would mess up the flavor of the tobacco.

Not for on the go.

If you are on the go, I'd suggest you get a wind cap for your pipe.

I went through a pouch of Half & Half like this in less than a week. If I remember right, I had a bit of a draw problem though. Didn't taste bad though.

Believe it or not, I have actually done this, and the result isnt as bad as you might think. Is it the same as smoking the tobacco in a pipe? Hardly. But if youre using something like a shag cut or a coarse cut tobacco, it actually doesnt work too bad. I have done this with Carter Hall and Haunted Bookshop with reasonable success. As you said, I dont inhale, and the paper doesnt affect the taste of the smoke as much as you might think. Its not something I do often, but it works every once in a great while.

If you are determined to try it mate, then Kendals Kentucky, Dark Birds Eye, and 5 Bro's are all Shag Tobacco. They roll very easily, but beware of the nic. mate.

As far as rolling pipe tobacco, been there done that a pain in the butt. Just purchase some cigars that are filled with pipe tobacco and the wind cap is great I use it in the car when the windows are down or working in the yard or house.

Those cigars are made from crap pipe tobacco - why bother?
Not for on the go
Why? I have been carrying pipes and tobacco with me for years. Yeah, it's not as easy as carrying cigars or cigs, but so what? Grab a tin or throw some tobacco in a baggie, your pipe, and cleaners, and you're set. I keep a tamper and cleaners in my car.
Or get something like this. pouch

I need to try one of those wind screens sooner or later. Are they a universal fit or do you need to take bowl diameter into account when purchasing? CAO has some decent pipe tobacco cigars, but I have a tin of Moontrance that I am not liking. As stated above, I agree with the corncob approach before rolling.

I have two of the windscreens that fit all but one of my cobs and all of my briars. The cob it doesn't fit is because the bowl diameter is to small, but that pipe smoking as slow and cool as I can burns for a total of maybe 15 minutes so the bowl diameter is pretty small. It also doesn't fit my grandads brylon, or my Mr. brogs pearwood, but those both have nearly a full inch internal diameter. Since I smoke cobs when I'm out and about mostly anyway and the ones it doesn't fit are in the house pipes....certainly better than papers or if it's speed your looking for, P&C.com sells a three clay set pretty cheap that are each 10 to 15 minute smokes here.
