I wanted to pay homage to one of the greatest films ever produced in the 20th century. If you haven't yet seen this movie, you are in for a real treat. I was kind of bummed out that more Oscar nominations were not generated by some of the timeless performances featured in this film. Attached is a brief synopsis outlining some of the strengths of the movie and why it is a must watch for any avid film buff. Enjoy!

I suspect that everyone on that movie was flying high from inhaling all that hair product.

I watched this for the first time a month or two ago. I enjoyed it.

I'm a really wealthy person, and I don't want that bar competing with my bar, so I am going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars ruining their livelihood, because I am so stupid wealthy that I can afford to ruin property, vehicles, send people in to die... why even my own son's death is worth getting rid of that po-dunk little shit bar.

Any other wealthy person with common sense would have just spent money to out advertise them, or built their bar further down the road... or just selected a better business idea than a dive bar.

Hahaha, certain movies are great during their own corner of time in the world. That sort of bombastically corny over the top intense action genre kind of died out in the 90's. It seems most people (myself included) now prefer action/thriller films that have a little more realism, or better yet, are based on true events. The "heros" these days also seem to be more humanized, beyond their undying love for some chick they just met anyway.

I still appreciate these films, as during my youth they were what everyone wanted to see. Badasses doing badass shit, blowing shit up, kicking asses and taking names. I also maintain somewhat of a nostalgic appreciation for the ridiculously over the top acting that was popular during the period. But Oscars? I don't think so. Although, I hear violence is getting more popular at the Oscars these days :ROFLMAO: ?

I'm happy to say I've never seen Roadhouse.

As for an Oscar...why not? I'm sure it's at least as deserving as several others they've been awarded to over the last decade or two.

Being a former bouncer in Jamaican clubs in Brooklyn, New York in the late 80’s, I thought the movie was a comedy. I saw no basis for reality in that movie (just mental masturbation for people who day dreamed about the glamorous life of a bouncer).
some movies are nonsexual porno. This one certainly is. Like it's just an excuse to show a specific fantasy. Kind of like making a movie that starts with a guy running over a ninjas mailbox. Now we can watch masked men punch and kick each other. :)

“A polar bear fell on me.”

Cue epic cover of Bob Dylan’s When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky by The Jeff Healy band while credits roll. Best. Ending. Ever
